The talus is part of the ankle. The talus is a rather interesting bone in our body in the sense that it is 60% covered by articular cartilage. It is the most important part of the articulation of the ankle. It allows up and down movement of the ankle in coordinates with the tibia and the fibula. There are two types of lesions Osteochondral Lesions; one is contained and the other is uncontained.

I think I had a sprained ligament along with my chip fracture in the midfoot but I don't know whether it is healed because I still cannot stand on my tip toes alone on the injured foot.
I had a bone graft and that is what I needed in the space that was left vacant because now my bones flex during severe atmospheric and electric powers causing my distal femur to expand and lock. Very bad.
I had this done 4 years ago and now I'm looking at gel injections and then eventually a replacement. After I had the sub chondroplasty done I hated everyone for at least a week when the pain finally started to subside. It took me a good 10 months to feel better from it and even though it fixed my fractures I still will need a replacement.
My insurance just denied my preauthorization for a subchondralplasty. They said it wasn't medically necessary because it's new technology without enough evidence for outcomes. I'm appealing.
Omg can you please be my doctor? It seems like as soon as I go back for this to my primary I'm going to get sent back to the specialist for a runaround again. When I went the first time and they caught this they want to do every treatment possible all while I'm becoming more and more injured. I just want the surgery to get this taken care of.
Just had this diagnosed in my left foot after an ER misdiagnosis. Surgery was four days ago with a screw between the 1st and 2nd. Doc said it will likely be four to five months of healing…
Thxxx so very much! Also sounds like AVN (Avascular Necrosis) of Talus…? Or how Different? How? 🙏
Thank you!! Thinking AVN? Or is that same as osteochondral defect? (am age 63 female diagnosed with idiopathic AVN of Taylor dome, also caused stress fracture. Considering 3D Talus prosthetic replacement. 🤞🏻
Anyone here heard of bone stimulation? I broke my navicular bone in two recently. I'm scared of doing surgery because it doesn't seem to be a guaranteed outcome of recovery. Also, it seems if the issue is blood supply, then doesn't using pins/screws seem contradictory to the healing process?
I'm also a chronic patient of right thoracic left lumbar scoliosis Sir
Exercises for prominent os trigonum Sir please
Hallo I have Lisfranc injury in 2019 and misdiagnosis for 2 months . Today I’m after 3 surgery and had done foot reconstruction surgery. My question is . If I have diagnosed in the early stage do my situation will be the same as now or much better. Because in the two months time when the keep saying that I have soft tissue injury. I have broken ligaments, my bones detached and cartilage between bones disappeared
Why the music in background. Very distracting. Can’t stand it poof!
One of my ankle bones (on the outside) is bigger (almost like double ankle) than my other foot, i do play soccer but it was never result of injury. Matter of fact I discovered it accidentally and have no idea what caused it. It don’t hurt when i play only when the ankle is touching the ground with my weight on top of it. 🤷🏻
I have a lisfranc injury it wasn’t diagnosed until about 4 years after I did it because that was the first time we did a weighted x-ray this was back about 1992. At the time I was told it was sprained and then about 2 weeks later the doctor casted it because it was still pretty swollen. I have never had surgery on but the last time we did a CT scan he told me it would be 6 weeks of no weight and 6 weeks of a walking cast it doesn’t bother me constantly but does when I am on it a lot. I found you video when I was searching how to use KT tape for a lisfranc injury
Hi what can you tell me about osteochandral lesions
I'm waiting on the artificial cartilage replacement that's being done at Duke University in clinical trials right now it looks like it will be a game changer
There is that and hyalex as well.
@@leisurely6711 what is hyalex?

“This is one of the more ✨rare fractures✨” *broke mine at the age of 7 hehe*
Can you do knee bone on bone?
What is your address?
THE WORST FRACTURE RIGHTG FOOT
I had mine triggered as a kid in a soccer injury. Was told for years that nothing was wrong. I've had both ankles injured and dealt with this. I'm in my 30s and don't really play sports anymore. I just try to take it easy with the kind of exercise I get. Biking, hiking, that kinda stuff. I haven't had a reirrititation in years. I just happened to think of it talking to someone else about it and I was curious if more people had heard of it now. I hope I never have to have surgery. Seems like it would be a long recovery when I get older
I had surgery for this plus other problems, did yours go away on your own?
Just had the surgery 2 days ago
how has recover been 2 months later?
@@itsehsanh I’m still not good, my range of motion is better but not where he has to be yet
@@buddysally886 did they remove it open surgery? or endoscop? i need to remove it , it affected my lifestyle.. your information would help me. thank u and i hope u recover soon.
Hey I’m a football player in high school I’m worried about not recovering well how are you doing now ?
@@unwntdgah3 I needed to get a cortisone injection because of the scar tissue from the surgery, but after that which was about 6 weeks ago, it’s starting to become a lot better, range, mobility vise, still not great yet, still doesn’t feel right and hurts on the bottom when walking still, but I’m seeing and feeling a-lot more progression now. When did you have the surgery? And how did yours happen?
I have a crushed navicular and broke my midfoot but I didn't know and it healed not even. Now have a lot of pain from the side of the navicular across on top of the midfoot to the other side.
I was excited to call dr Nilssen to make an appointment for my son who was diagnosed with Os Trigonum but I just realized he is in Florida and I am in Chicago.
Please get rid of the “music”!
that goes for me double!!
Don't know what you're complaining about? The music is played & volume adjusted up/down at appropriate time!
I’m 6 weeks post navicular ORIF surgery after a comminuted and displaced fracture from a snowboarding crash. I’ve finally graduated to weight bearing and OH GOD IM EXCITED. Hang on in there everybody!
Hey, I'm glad it seems like you're healing! My bf is a snowboarder and I tried snowboarding for the first time in the soft hills of TN just days before breaking my navicular bone in two. I have cried so much reading how some find this bone so difficult to heal. I want to snowboard again, but I'm starting to freakout about whether I'll ever walk or run normally again. I'm scared to go the surgery route. Can you tell me a little bit more about your injury and recovery?
My navicular sticks like an inch out ffs
What is the material that is being injected? Thank you very much.
Didn't he say it was "grout"? According to the notes under the video it's called AccuFill bone substitute material.
Calcium phosphate; as Dr. Nilssen mentions in this video.
I've had this injury for years - always misdiagnosed. Just had xray for numbness in toes that revealed it. I'm both a soccer and volleyball athlete. This is the best explanation I've found on the web. Well done. Thanks.
Thank you great explanation for mid foot pain and why the navicular is so special ! Easy to understand for my 15 yo daughter too. Keep sending more videos.
Why not use foot models so we can visualize this!! Even pictures would fell. I'm sur you have foot forms in your office!
Can lisfranc happen because someone stepped on a foot
Thanks for the info, a seriously a great and engaging video. Can I ask a question, what is an os supranaviculare?
I'm 18 and I broke my navicular bone and i will be permanently damaged for the rest of my life
I tried to do a back flip off a diving board 5 years ago bit I just jumped straight in the air. every time when I start running I feel deep pain in my left foot, top my foot.
Completely shattered mine from a fall. The had to remove the bone and use a Z plate to hold the rest of the bone together on that foot. I think they said bone matrix's. Growing bone in my heel. Can you explain it a little to me
I had stem cell? They said the mixed it with my maro
Broke mine in a fall, hope you heal well
@@Vercz10 @prestonbeck7642 Hi, I also broke mine from a fall. 9ft onto concrete and the bone just split in two. Can you let me know how your healing process is going?
Can the OS Trigonum trigger inflammation into the sinus tarsi area?
I met with accident after 2 weeks came to know its Navicular Bone very bad fracture into more than 7 pieces, in 3rd week I went surgery by puttinga plate and a screw for the two bug bone. My foot has casted Doc advised to come after 6 weeks. But wenever i sit on the chair and let my leg dow hanging. I feel like its loaded heavy am running 5th week of cement cast I don't understand whether its healing sympots or anyother... pls comment...
How to tell if the issue is the navicular stress fracture or the posterior tibilalis tendonitis ? the pain is on the side of the navicular upon pressing.
Same question I have did you get the answer
@@tusharkaul6330 yes and no I got a shockwave therapy ewst from a chiropractor that greatly resolved the issue, for me it was muscle pain and tendons that pain can feel like bone pain but a podiatrist told me it was not possible to be bone pain because i had it for years ,he told me that if it was a bone fracture, it would have healed a long time ago bone fractures dont last years according to him. They heal quickly.
@@jovictor3007 Good to hear you recovered and thanks for your reply

Thank you for the music and calm voice in this video. I don't know if I broke mine or not but I just started having a little pain in and around that area and I felt like that bone might have been slightly more prominent than on my other foot, idk but I just overthink a lot as if I could be a hypochondriac. and I'm particularly overthinking a lot right now about if it's broken or not and stressing myself out way too much about it so thank you for explaining this in a calm manner to me 🤍
Dr. Can you do this same procedure for the foot? What are some of the non invasive things I can do for arthritis for my feet?
Hey would all types of stress fractures show on an x-ray or would they need an MRI? I only had an x-ray well two x-rays now one after 5 weeks of wearing the boot.
Pls can I engage in running as a form of workout as a bowlegged person? Thank you
